Vintage Sterling Silver & Enamel Red Back Spider Dangle Hook Earrings

A fabulously quirky pair of vintage sterling silver spider earrings, beautifully detailed and finished with dramatic red and black enamelled bodies reminiscent of Australia’s iconic redback spider.

 

Each earring has been fashioned as an openwork spider, with long legs and textured detailing throughout the silverwork. At the centre sits a smooth oval body decorated in glossy black enamel with a vivid blood-red stripe, creating a striking contrast against the aged silver.

 

The slightly darkened, oxidised finish caught within the textured details gives these spiders plenty of depth and character, enhancing their wonderfully vintage, gothic appearance.

 

Suspended from classic shepherd-hook ear wires, the spiders have plenty of movement when worn and are large enough to make a statement without appearing overly heavy. Their openwork construction keeps the design visually delicate despite the impressive size.

DETAILS

 

•  Stamped 925 on the back of both spiders, and on both of the shepherd hooks.
•  Both earrings together weigh 4.17 grams.
•  Each of the spider motifs measure approx 30mm X 19mm.

 

CONDITION

 

Good preloved vintage condition with some minor signs of wear.  Some fine marks, scratches and vintage patina are present.  The enamel detail is nicely preserved, showing no cracks or chips.
