How to clean & care for your Jewellery at Home

At Athena Rain Collective we take great pride in the Quality & Appearance of our jewellery, and we strive to maintain our collection to an utmost high standard.

Dealing with preloved jewellery, it is of high importance that items are professionally cleaned prior to sale, for not only appearance, but more importantly for hygiene and health reasons.  We take great care to ensure all of our jewellery is professionally cleaned prior to being available for purchase by our customers.

Quality Solid gold and silver jewellery is durable, water proof, and can last centuries when cared for appropriately and worn thoughtfully.  This does not mean that solid gold and silver pieces are immune to environmental factors that may impact wear and tear, cause tarnish, or the potential of damage caused from incorrect wear or improper use.

Knowing how to care for your jewellery  adequately can significantly enhance the quality, appearance, longevity and overall value of your collection over time.

Wearing your jewellery

Solid Gold & Silver jewellery is designed to remain long lasting when worn and cared for thoughtfully. Before wearing a piece of jewellery you should always consider the compounding environmental factors that may impact toward the wear & tear of your pieces. We want our pieces to last FORVER just as we know our clients do too! Wearing your pieces consciously helps to avoid accidental damage & helps to reduce signs of wear and tear over time.

To ensure longevity & reduce risk of misplacing your jewellery pieces, it is most ideal to

- remove jewellery before swimming/gym/ sports/showering/ gardening.

- remove Jewellery before sleeping.

- when not in use, keep jewellery items in a safe place.  Eg. A jewellery box.

- Avoid combining jewellery with clothing that may snag or catch, as this may cause unintended damage to both jewellery & clothing.

- Assess jewellery regularly! Checking for loose stones can help reduce the risk of losing any.

Best methods for storing your jewellery

Rings: Store rings upright in a cushion style ring storage compartment/ box.  This is a great space saving method, and ensures rings are kept safe.

Necklaces: Necklaces are best stored hanging as if they are being worn.  This helps to prevent any kinks or link damage to chains. Alternatively, store necklaces laying flat, taking care to ensure links are evenly placed.

Bracelets / earrings: Bracelets and earrings are best stored either in a designated box , or in a silk pouch. Avoid hooking earrings together as this can increase risk of damage.
