A magnificent statement of vintage glamour!
Bold, sophisticated and effortlessly elegant, this fabulous vintage circa 1970s 9ct yellow gold and smoky quartz cocktail ring by Fred Manshaw is a beautiful celebration of the dramatic jewellery designs that defined the era.
Taking centre stage is an impressive 12.52 carat natural smoky quartz, beautifully fashioned in an elongated oval faceted cut. Displaying rich, alluring shades of chocolate brown, warm cognac and smoky bronze, this captivating gemstone comes alive beneath the light, revealing gorgeous flashes of golden warmth and remarkable depth.
The generously proportioned gemstone is elevated within a beautifully crafted openwork gallery setting, secured by four substantial gold claws. Its striking high-set profile allows light to enter the stone from multiple angles, enhancing its natural transparency and beautifully faceted appearance.
Delicate, gently tapered shoulders flow gracefully into a slender polished yellow gold band, creating a wonderful contrast between the bold gemstone and the understated elegance of its setting.
A beautiful example of 1970s cocktail jewellery, this ring perfectly captures an era when jewellery was designed to be noticed! Oversized gemstones, warm golden tones and expressive silhouettes were hallmarks of the decade, with cocktail rings becoming fashionable symbols of confidence, individuality and glamour.
Adding to its appeal is its association with Fred Manshaw, whose maker's mark appears alongside the gold fineness markings inside the band.
Smoky quartz has long been associated with grounding, protection and emotional balance, making this beautiful gemstone especially meaningful to those who appreciate jewellery with a little symbolism.
Whether worn as a fabulous statement piece, treasured as part of a vintage jewellery collection, or gifted to someone with a love of old-world glamour, this remarkable ring promises to make an impression.
