Antique/ Vintage Art deco era, 1920's - 1930's circa hand painted Morpho butterfly wing brooch by renowned English Jeweller, Thomas L. Mott.
Butterfly wing jewellery became most popular during the 1920's after a collection of pieces were shown on display at the 1924 british Exposition, by Talented English Jeweller & silversmith, Thomas L Mott Junior.
Crafted in England during the height of the Art Deco period, from the delicate wings of butterflies. Often flaunting hand painted depictions of scenery or portraits, & complemented by a butterfly wing background, these beautiful & interesting pieces surged in popularity during the 1920's & 1930's, with wearable butterfly wing pieces of all kinds becoming a cherished addition to many personal collections!
This gorgeous little brooch displays the wing of a blue Morpho butterfly, with a sweet little hand painted beach scene to its forefront, & elegantly complemented by a gently patterned frame.
To the reverse, this piece is hallmarked with a TLM, accompanied by the words Sterling & England, indicating that this brooch is a genuine English made piece by Thomas L Mott!

Condition
Very good preloved Antique / vintage condition, with only minor signs of wear considering age. Some scratches, marks, and age appropriate patina are visible to the silver. The face of the brooch is beautifully clear, with little signs of wear and no significant damage to mention. The pin to the reverse functions well. Slight bend to the pin. Hallmarks are nice and clear.
