Rich in Australian history, I have this absolutely SPECTACULAR Antique Australian 9ct old rosey gold and black opal doublet ring, crafted by reputable Melbourne jeweller, William Drummond.
This FANTASTIC Antique Australian opal piece boasts a pleasing play of colour, with brilliant flashes of red, green and blue, complemented by little hints of purple and yellow, bouncing through the stone.
Designed with an elegant tapered shank that meets a unique set of stepped shoulders, merging into a tidy and conveniently low bezel setting, she is sure to become a regular wear delight!
This piece is estimated to have been crafted sometime during the very early 20th century, and has certainly lived a very well loved life so far!
An incredible piece of Antique Australian history, this wonderful ring would make an impressive gift, or a fantastic heirloom quality addition to any collection of fine jewellery.

- Stamped to the reverse of the stone setting with "W9D" representing that this piece was crafted by William Drummond of Melbourne, Victoria using solid 9ct gold.
- The colour of the gold is a mellow old Rosey gold. With a polish the colour may appear slightly more yellow.
- size 8 1/2 US or a UK size Q.
- Weighs 2.52 grams.
- The internal diameter of the band measures 18mm.
- the alluring black opal doublet measures a generous 11.5mm X 7mm.
- The bezel setting sits 3.5mm high off the finger.
- The face of the ring measures 13mm X 8.5mm, with the shoulders of the ring graduating down from 6.5 mm, meeting at the base of the shank with a 2.2mm wide band.
Condition
Good antique preloved condition with some minor signs of wear that are consistent with age and use. The doublet opal is complete with no chips, and boasts a stunning play of colour. Some fine scratches to the face of the opal are present, common for opal jewellery of its age. Some fine marks, scratches, and patina is present to the gold. The shank is nice and round, with no significant signs of thinning. The antique Australian hallmarks are crisp and clear.
