An exquisite Antique Victorian era 3 band hands and heart Una Fede or Gimmal ring.

The "Gimmal" ring - Gimmal meaning "Twins" in Latin, traditionally consists of two or three bands that are crafted to interlock by a pair of holding hands at the face, usually clasping a hidden heart that can be revealed when the hands are separated.

Popular as wedding or "betrothal" rings during the 16th century, it was common practise for each separate ring to be worn by a couple preparing for marriage- if a third band was present, that could also be worn by a witness of vows - with All three of the bands officially joined as one wedding ring, and worn by the bride on the day of marriage, and there after.

An inspirational symbol of eternal love, this beautiful hand crafted ring displays 3 individual bands that are interlocked at the face with two intricately detailed, and affectionately clasped bride and groom hands.  When opened, the clasped hands reveal a delicately and dearly protected heart motif on a third middle band.

A welcomed gift for a dear loved one, or the perfect alternative engagement or friendship ring for anyone who appreciates the history of jewellery, and fine antique craftsmanship.
