A fabulous testament to the impeccable quality and craftsmanship of Victorian era jewellery, we have this perfectly timeless Antique 1888 circa 15ct buttery old yellow gold and natural old European cut diamond gypsy ring.
In true gypsy ring style, this piece flaunts a gently domed face, with a single sparkling natural earth mined old European cut diamond, of approximately 0.07carats.
The glistening natural diamond is securely flush set into a tidy 4 point prong setting, surrounded by a subtle star/diamond detail framing the stone.
A simply delightful, and incredibly collectable addition to any collection of fine jewellery, this marvellous heirloom quality antique would make a remarkable gift for a loved one, or a treasured addition for oneself.
Details
- Full hallmarks are present. Chester assay stamp, 15, and 625- both signifying the fine 15ct gold purity. Date stamp for the year 1888. A worn makers mark is also present.
- Measures as a size 5 1/2 US or K UK- Could be resized if desired.
- Inner diameter of the band measures 15.5mm.
- Weighs a solid 3.4 grams.
- The face of the band measures approx 7.2mm wide, gently tapering to 3mm wide at the base of the shank.
- The Natural diamond has been tested, and measures approx 2.5mm in diameter.
Condition
Very good Antique preloved condition, with some minor signs of wear that are commensurate with age and use. The diamond is in very nice condition, showing no scratches, chips or damage under magnification. The diamond sits securely in its setting. Some fine marks, scratches and patina to the gold may be present. The shank is thick, sturdy, and round, showing no significant signs of thinning. There is very slight evidence of a previous professional resize, that has been performed very well, and is only visible upon very close inspection. Some minor signs of rub wear to the hallmarks are present.
