Antique Edwardian 9ct Gold & Carnelian Ring Size N or 7

A unique and beautiful Antique Edwardian, circa 1900-1910, 9ct gold & cabochon cut natural carnelian ring. 

 

This simple yet eye catching Antique piece flaunts a minimalist design, with a narrow shank that splits at the shoulders to meet the setting, and boasts a generously sized cabochon cut natural glowy orange carnelian stone.  The colour of the gold is predominantly yellow, with a slight Rosey old gold tinge, common for 9ct gold jewellery of this era.

 

The stone is set into a sturdy and open backed bezel setting, ensuring light can flow through the stone, creating a fabulous bright orange glow.

 

This ring would make an exceptional addition for anyone who adores Antique gold jewellery, and would make an ideal piece for regular wear, with her comfortable and low set design.

•  Partially worn hallmarks with a visible '9' stamp. Has been tested as solid 9ct gold.
•  Measures as a size 7 US or N UK/AU. 
•  The inner diameter of the band measures 17mm.
• Weighs 2.14 grams.

•  The carnelian stone measures approx 12mm in diameter and sits approx 6mm proud.
•  The shoulders of the ring measure approx 6.5mm wide, tapering to 2.1mm wide at the base of the shank.

 

Condition

 

Good antique preloved condition, with some signs of wear that are commensurate with age and use.  The carnelian stone presents in very nice condition, with no notable scratches, chips or cracks. The stone is secure in its bezel setting and is not loose.  Some fine marks, scratches and aged patina to the gold are present. The shank is nice and round, and shows no significant signs of thinning.
