An absolutely brilliant Antique Australian 9ct Old Rosey gold dress or Gypsy style ring, boasting three natural gorgeous orangish - red flush star set Almandine Garnet stones, set into a square faced, multi level low setting.
This piece was manufactured in Brisbane, Queensland by Renowned Australian manufacturing Jeweller, Walter F. Cole, for Brisbane Jewellers, S. Hoffnung & Co.
Estimated to be dated to 1910-1920, this stunning ring is a superb example of Antique Australian fine Jewellery, and would make an incredible heirloom quality addition to any collection.
History
Walter Frederick Cole, born in Melbourne, Victoria in the year 1877 was one of 13 children! Travelling to Queensland around the turn of the century, Walter founded his jewellery manufacturing business on Adelaide Street, Brisbane, Queensland at the young age of 24 years old!
Walter became a much respected manufacturing jeweller amongst the Australian jewellery community, supplying quality Luxury jewellery for high end retailers such as S.Hoffnung & Co and Arthur Cocks & Co. Walter F. Cole unfortunately passed away unexpectedly, in 1941, at the age of 65.
The hallmarks on this stunning antique piece show that this ring was manufactured by Walter. F Cole, for Brisbane Jewellery retailer S.Hoffnung & Co. It would have been crafted some time between 1910 and 1920 with makers Stamps that are consistent with this era.

- Full Antique Australian Hallmarks- 9ct, "anvil" ; representing Walter F. Cole, and a capital "H" representing S.Hoffnung & Co.
- weighs 2.93 grams.
- the face of the ring measures 8mm wide, tapering to 6mm at the shoulders and 2.5mm at the base of the shank.
- Natural orange/red almandine garnet stones: the centre stone measures 3mm in diameter, with the two outer stones measuring approx 2.2 mm each
Condition
Good preloved Condition with some minor signs of wear that are commensurate with age and use. All stones are in nice condition, and firm in their settings. The base of the shank shows some very minor signs of thinning, expected for a piece of this age.
Band is nice and round. Setting and shoulder details are all well preserved. Hallmarks show signs of wear, however, remain crisp and clear.
