Antique Australian 9ct Gold & Iolite Man In The Moon - Moon Face & Star Pendant

A stunning antique Australian handcrafted “Man in the Moon” pendant, featuring a charming articulated star set with a natural bluish-purple Iolite gemstone.

 

Dating from the late Victorian to early Edwardian era (circa 1890–1910), this enchanting piece showcases intricate hand-etched detailing and expert craftsmanship, beautifully accentuating the expressive moon face design.

Details

 

•  Antique Australian hallmarks present. A flag, a '9', a wheat sheaf, and a makers mark 'C2'.  The maker is unidentified.
•  Weighs 0.90 grams. Flat, light weight design, perfect to be worn as a pendant on a dainty neck chain.
•  Measures approx 22mm X 17mm, not including the jump ring. The articulated star component measures approx 6mm X 6mm. 
•  The Iolite stone has been tested, and measures approx 3mm in diameter. 

 

Condition

 

Good Antique preloved condition, with some minor signs of wear that are commensurate with age and use.  Some fine marks, scratches and aged patina are present. The etched details to the face are nicely preserved. The hallmarks are present and clear.  The Iolite stone sits securely in its setting, it is not loose.  The stone presents in well preserved condition, showing no significant, scratches, chips or damage when viewed under magnification.
