Antique Australian 15ct Yellow Gold opal & Amethyst Spider Pendant

On offer, we have this completely fantastic Antique Australian 15ct yellow gold spider pendant, manufactured by reputable early Melbourne jewellers, Johnson & Simonsen. 

 

Boasting a full set of old Australian assay hallmarks to the reverse, this wonderful Antique piece is estimated to be dated to 1910-1920 circa. 

 

Adorned with a vibrant & solid natural Australian opal to the head of the spider, alongside a deep purple oval faceted natural Amethyst stone, positioned as the spiders abdomen, this piece is both beautiful and interestingly realistic in design.

 

A fantastic gift, this piece would make a desirable heirloom quality addition to any collection of fine jewellery. 

 

Details

•  Stamped with old Australian hallmarks. 'Hung fleece' representing 15ct gold, alongside a '15' stamp, accompanied by a 'compass and square' for Johnson & Simonsen. 
•  Weighs 1.83 grams.
•  Measures approx 25mm X 17mm.
•  The solid opal stone measures approx 4.5mm X 3.5mm.
•  the amethyst stone measures approx 8mm X 6mm.

 

Condition

 

Good preloved antique condition, with some signs of wear that are commensurate with age and use.  Some fine marks and scratches may be present. Both stones present in nice condition, showing no significant scratches or chips under magnification. This sweet little spider has had some minor repairs to two of his legs, these are only noticeable upon close inspection of the reverse of the pendant.
