An incredible Antique Victorian Pietra dura mosaic Mourning ring dated to circa. 1896 making this piece an inspirational 128 years of age.
This ring displays an intricately detailed Pietra dura mosaic face that is handcrafted using pieces of Malachite and quartz stones, delicately shaped and set into a piece of perfectly contrasting onyx stone to form a beautiful Lilly of the valley motif.
Lilly of the Valley, birth flower for babies of the Month May, as well as a traditional symbol of purity, and commonly representative in memory of a lost loved one.
Made from solid old Rosey 9ct gold, this piece was handcrafted by Alfred George Griffiths of Hylton street, in Birmingham and retains its original and complete hallmarks, including makers mark, gold fineness and date stamp. The face of the ring is framed by intricate chain link detail, meeting at the etched shank where it is joined by a flat plate of solid 9ct gold securing the face of the ring to the shank.

Condition
Good Antique preloved Condition with signs of wear that are commensurate with the age of this piece and simply add character. The mosaic stones show signs of wear with visible scratches. There is a tiny chip missing to the top of one of the malachite leaves. Etched detail to the outer shank shows signs of wear. Shank is nice and round, with hallmarks crisp and visible.
