Birmingham assayed 1908 by highly regarded,  jeweler and silver smith, Pearce & Thompson, this highly collectable sterling silver fob compass is a must have piece of antique history! 

 

Nautical themed, and shaped perfectly as a ship's wheel, this reliable little compass is still  fully functioning, showing only minor signs of wear at 116 years of age.  This piece is reversible, with alternating & slightly different compass faces on both sides of the piece.  

 

Made with sterling silver and crystal glass, both faces of the compass are perfectly pristine with no scratches, chips or damage whatsoever.  The compass is elegantly paired with a stunning chunky vintage/ Antique Albert fob chain, in sterling silver, measuring a generous 50cm in length.  All pieces are individually hallmarked. 

 

 Pearce & Thompson jewellers were located on Vyse street, in Birmingham's jewellery centre of the city.  

 

Well known during the late Victorian- Edwardian era for their  broaches, compasses, hair pins, crucifix's aswel as other personal fine silver items of the likes.

 

 Pearce & Thompson had earned a well deserved respect, for the expertise quality behind their craftsmanship.

  •  full hallmarks- makers mark, metal refinement, and date stamp.. bale is also stamped with a lion.  
  • compass measures 30mm h X 20mm W including bale. 
  • Chain measures 50cm in length, links measures 5mm wide. 

 

Condition

 

Very  good preloved Antique condition with some signs of wear that are expectant with this age of piece.  Some scratching, marks, small dents, to the silver of the compass. A tiny hole in the silver is present one one of the tiny nodules.  Faces of the compass are immaculate and clear. An overall lovely collectors piece.
